How can I get started in a career as a mobile applications developer?
Q. I am a CPA by profession but want to shift into the mobile applications development industry (Android or iOS) and hopefully work for a startup. What us the best way to go about doing so ? Can I self teach myself and apply for jobs?Or do I need another degree?

A. A degree in computer science will help. But its not really necessary. You can teach yourself Java (for iOS), or C++/visual basics (for Android).

Here is a very easy startup tool for doing apps on the android. It was initiated by google, but they stopped supporting this project and has since been taken over by a group from MIT. Search for "app inventor". Everything is in the cloud and totally free.
