What Android Version to Install on my Samsung Galaxy?

Q. I got a new Samsung Galaxy Gio smartphone and am pretty happy with it. Thing is the Android version 2.3.6 that is installed seems to be a bit buggy at times and so I am thinking of rooting it and putting a new Firmware on it. Now the Question is which one would be that best? I heard there are some Adroid 4.0 releases, but they seem to be even more buggy.

I just want that the bloatsoftware is gone from my phone and maybe that it gains some compatibility. Since some Games that are said to work in the Google Play store in the end wont start on my Phone or simply cannot be installed due to small internal storage. Eventhough I got every App I can on my SD.

What happens to my android version if i do a factory reset?
Q. What happens to my android version if i do a factory reset?

I've rooted my phone and upgaraded it to4.0.4 Now if i do a factory reset what will happen to my android version? Will it go back to 2.3.6 and unrooted the way it was first time i bought it? Thank you very much.. This really is an emergancy...

A. Factory reset will put it back to the condition it was when it came out of the factory so yes it will go back tp 2.3.6 and will be unrooted, but at least it will work like new!

I played around with Android stuff on my Eken M009s tablet and did the same thing when selling it.
