Q. I'm working on a java game right now using a game engine. I'm learning a lot but am curious if i should switch over to XNA for more documentation and help. My real question is... Is XNA a good way to learn video game programming and C#? I'm in college and can learn on my own.
A. I think you should stick to Java. XNA is only for windows and XBLA, but you can make java games for windows, Linux, mac, Android and even can make web games. Java gives you a lot more platform choice. But if you only want to develop games for windows then XNA can be better. Developing games with XNA can be easier than Java. Regarding your last question, yes XNA is a very good choice if you don't care about multiple platform.
Which programming language should i choose in 2011?
Q. I am 14 years old and I want to start learning programming in video games and later move to web development (maybe). What would be a good language to start learning which I can use to develop PC and/or android games. Note: Dont say c++ is best in games. I know it is but that language is very hard and not a very good first language.
A. Definitely Python!
Easy to learn, Fun to develop with. Can be used for stand alone apps and/or web development.
Runs on the 3 major OS on the market this days (Linux, Windows and MacOS).
