Has any one used their Android phone as a modem for their computer?

Q. I have an Android G1 which includes the market. I was wondering what is the best application to use? The one Im using now, PDA net is soooooo slow and I would like to go faster.

Thanks for any suggestions =]

A. I thought PDANet was pretty fast, anyway it's still the best application for doing this.

Is there an application to force switch between landscape and portait?
Q. I washed my android g1 with my laundry. Every thing works fine, amazingly. However i'm stuck on landscape mode, I believe it has more to do with the spin cycle than it does with the water. I want a widget on home screen that allows me to manually switch from portrait to landscape. Thanks!
Brandon, yeah right! I'm gonna get a new phone because everything works but that?

A. I'm pretty sure this is no application, because usually the built in accelerometer takes care of the flipping between landscape/portrait.

In your case; you accelerometer might have been damaged from the water. Time to get a new phone!

What programming language to begin learning?
Q. Hi,I have absolutely no background knowledge.
I basically want to be able to create/write my own programs for my Google Android G1 phone. what is the best place to start. bearing in mind i plan to self teach myself.

A. Python is a well known beginners coding language.

I personally started with c++ but I didnt really understand much of it at first.

Another great starting language would be Java. Its quite easy and commonly used in high schools to teach students to program. It has so many built in features and makes things easy. It also is an easy transition from java to c#.

C# could also be good. It uses the .NET Framework which i think is the future of coding. It makes everything so much simpler.

In the end its all personal preferance. The same things can be done in all the languages, some are just harder to do specific things than others.
