which phone should i get... samsung galaxy siii or the iphone 4s?
Q. i need the phone before september so i can't wait for the iphone 5 to come out

A. Both have their benefits. Apple is a tighter platform, easier for beginners, and a very elegant design that everyone covers up with a case because they fear damaging it.

Android Can multitask, has more powerful phones, bigger screens, and can be customized. It all comes down to personal preference.

I have had an Iphone 4 and a lot of android phones. Currently selling my iphone 4 to get a galaxy s3

Planning to buy an Android. Total Beginner to the Android stuff. Need help.?
Q. i'm planning to buy an android phone and i kinda had some questions ..

1. Can the softwares be updated? like i can update my 2.1 to 2.2 or 2.2 to 2.3(when it comes out) for FREE right !? are there some specs in the phone that can prevent me from updating .. like i know the 2.3 will require 1Ghz speed or something.. do a lot of phones have such problems ?

2. How much internal memory should i be looking for? like HTC wildfire offers 512mb ROM + 384mb RAM .. is that enough?
btw is the 2.2 thingy for moving apps to memory card working fine?? heard there were some problems?

3. Any other thing i should be looking for when buying the phone? like android-wise.. kinda new to the thing..

thnx guys ..

A. 1) Most "modern" Android phones will eventually get the 2.3 (Gingerbread) update. Older phones are out of luck. The 1GHz for 2.3 rumor is just that, a rumor. Some older phones will get UNofficial ROMs with updates to 2.1 and later. Some old T-Mobile G1 (the first Android phone released) are running 2.2 ROMs even though official support stopped at 1.6.

2) The more RAM you have, the snappier your phone will run. Most recent Android phones (HTC Droid Incredible, Motorola Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S...) comes with 512MB of RAM. So you'd want that if possible.

App2SD doesn't move all the app to the SD. Just a chunk of it. How much depends on the app itself. For some, it's significant (Angry Birds, for example, is like 12 MB but 11 MB was moved to SD, leaving 1 MB in internal storage) Not all apps can be moved. System apps, protected apps, and widgets can't be moved.

3) Buy one that's near top of the line, but not the latest. Those would enjoy the best "hacker support" yet still have nearly the top hardware. For now, that'd be HTC Droid Incredible and Motorola Droid X, HTC Evo 4G (if you use Sprint) and an oldie... Nexus One (Google/HTC). People have gotten Gingerbread running on the Droid X, supposedly. It's buggy as heck, but they are working on it!
