Q. I would like to update my Samsung Galaxy S2.In the settings it says: "Android version 2.3.6" "Build number GINGERBREAD.UVLDE" I am pretty sure the latest Android version is 4.1, correct me if im wrong. How do I update to this 4.1 version? I figured I would just click "Software update" in the settings, but when I do it says, "No firmware". Please help me.
A. Yes, you're right the latest version is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but most carrier are busy rolling Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich).
You phone will tell you of you can update to 4.0, Check on you phone "Settings > About Phone > Sytem updates > Check now", if an update is available you can initiate it.
For 4.1, you have 2 choices, wait for your carrier (maybe call them and ask them when they plan to roll the update) or update your phone manually.
If you are "impatient" and want to update right now, here are some tutorials to walk you through:

Can you upgrade the version of android on any phone?
Q. Well I'm getting a new phone and it's an android powered one, and I watched a review on it and the man said that it was a "downgrade" or android from the last phone, and it was just the basic android layout and stuff. So if i get it, can I update it to "gingerbread" or whatever the latest android version is, or am i stuck with this version of android?
its the Samsung Intercept phone.
its the Samsung Intercept phone.
A. You can get the upgrade if it was made available for your phone. But it is NOT guaranteed, esp. for older phones.

How do I update the Android Market on my T-Mobile sidekick 4G?
Q. I tried to make a purchase and I got a message saying that I need to update my Android Market to version 2.3.4 or higher.
I heard somewhere that the Android Market is supposed to update itself, but I'm not sure. How can I get the latest Android Market?
P.S. - my phone has been updated with the latest software.

A. That is strange. As you said, it should update automatically. If you go to android market app and search for "android market" in the search apps option, the app should show as installed and the automatic update option in there should be ticked. But it will be ticked by default. Try searching in google for the latest android market version apk file and try a manual install. Hope it helps.
