Q. Im thinking of buying this android phone and its a dual sim card phone and was wondering if i need 2 sim cards for it to work, and also just wondering whats the point of dual sim cards?

A. yes.. there are many chinese mobile phones available in the market.. ranging form Rs 6000 to 20000..

Q. It doesn't have to be top of the line and i'd rather not buy cheap rubbish.
My only requirements are that it should run Android, have good sized keys for texting (preferably the keyboard would be on the screen, not dedicated keys)
Also, anything but Apple.
I'm kinda after a dual sim phone because i don't want to carry two phones around at work. I have enough to carry around without having two phones instead of one.

A. Pretty much anything that you find that has "dual-SIM" is going to be knock off garbage. Do yourself a favor and buy two separate phones that you are familiar with and know will have high quality.
