What is a android tablet and what does it do?

Q. Simply, what does an android tablet do and what can you use it for? Also what can like go on it?

A. A tablet is a type of PC, but it is in a compact 'slate' form that doesn't include keyboard, mouse, DVD drive and other extra parts that only add to size and cost.

Tablets are in short specifically made for consuming content - that means watching movies, surfing the net, checking emails, playing games and reading e-books and other documents.

They are light and compact so you can easily slip them into your bag.

Rather than a mouse you just touch the screen where you want to make a selection. This can make typing a lot a little difficult, but for the odd email they're fine and great for games.

One of the best things about Android is that you can download thousands of free apps, applications, that allow you to do almost anything - games, calendars, keeping fit, music players, e-book readers; you can get apps for almost anything and generally as I said they are free.

You can also download music and movies and put them on your memory card and then watch them.

If you connect to the internet with Wifi you can even use the net for free and make skype calls for free etc.

I buy my tablets from Virtual village - they have a wide range of sizes from 5 to 10 inch tablets - I would go for larger sizes such as 10 inch if possible as they are clearer when it comes to watching movies.

How to downlowd pictures from internet to android tablet?
Q. I was surfing the web on my android tablet (Asus Transformer TF300 if that's helpful) and saw some pictures I wanted to download. But because there's no right click option with a tablet, I could not save the pictures. Is there another way to do it?

A. On the transformer browser, touch the picture that you want to download and keep your finger down for1-2 seconds and a small popup will display that allows you to save the image.

Is it possible that I can download Google Play on my cheap Polaroid tablet?
Q. Hi. I have a tablet that my father bought as a pre-Christmas present for me. It is a the Polaroid Internetablet Internet Tablet with Android. Even though it is not a popular tablet and it is cheap, I still love it and I use it everyday. The problem is that when I had to download an appstore, it didn't have Google Play, and I wanted Google Play. I had an option of The Amazon App Market, 1Mobile Market, and a couple of other markets, but not Google Play. Is there a way that I can delete my current application market, and download Google Play from maybe online? And if I can, do I have to delete all the apps I have downloaded?

A. You an see if you can find and install the Gplay apk, or from those stores.
If you cannot, you need to find a rooted version of the OS, which will wipe current apps, settings, and content.
