Can my Iphone 4 with Softbank work when I go home to the US and use Verizon?

Q. Hi Yahoo people,

I just moved to Japan for a job. I will be here for then next year and basically force myself to get an Iphone here though I had an amazing Android with Verizon back home. I am now starting to like the Iphone and wondering what to do with it when I leave? Can my iphone 4 be unlocked some how so that I can go to Verizon Wireless and have it activated?

A. Unfortunately, Softbank does not offer any official unlock services for their iPhone, even if your 2 year contract with them expires, or even if you tell them that you'll be going back to your home country. You need to resort to jail breaking your iPhone to unlock it and use it back in the US. But to be sure (since they might change their policy in the future) you can go to a Softbank shop for more information. They have several shops in japan who cater to English speaking clients.

This link proves Softbank does not support official unlocking services.
