What does Android phones have that others don't?

Q. It has apps, that's one thing I know but tell me, are all apps free? What kind of apps are there? Tell me what they come with and what it has in the phone already. Basically tell me everything you know about it. I want to buy one from virgin mobile, do I have to pay extra just because it's an android? Thanks :)

A. Android is an operating system that was launched by Google about a little less than 7 years ago.
Android is now the leading OS in smart phones market share, android is running on 38% of all existing smart phones, while the second is IOS and running on 27% of all smart phones.
U can find the page with all these statistics at the source.

Now,Android itself is running on Linux kernel (which is something involving computer OSs,so let's not go further deep into that),and that is actually an advantage because the linux kernel is open source and any system running on the linux kernel is open source which means that the user or the developer can change anything with the system files or adjust the kernel itself or any part of the system he'd like to change, all in order to deliver better performance, and that's why android versions are too many and the roms for each android phone are almost endless.

Android is mainly considered the best smart phone OS out there because u can customize anything with the screens and the launchers so that u can do things faster, better and more efficiently while using the phone.

Android has tones and tones of apps (latest statistic records that the android market has over 300,000 app with an average daily growth of 63+ apps),and android apps are very useful to anyone for every day life,u can use them to do anything, such as alarms, agenda, remotely control your pc or laptop, play music and videos, download movies, music files and documents, browse the internet on-the-go,and pretty much evertything u can do with your mac pr pc and even more than that, just on the go and at the palms of your hands.

If u doubt that you'll actually like android or if it's the best choice out there for you, then you shouldn't worry,as almost 400 million android users can't be wrong.
U can try the OS before buying any phone running android, these are the options available to you:
1-U can test drive any android phone at any carrier store;like AT&T,T-mobile,vodafone and others.

2-U can buy an entry-level android phone like, which is a name for cheap phones that yet feature all the goodies of android, like: HTC Wildfire,HTC Wildfire S,Vodafone 845,Vodafone 858 Smart.

U can check the source links for the android market share statistics and all the info about android at the second link.

P.S:this answer was "copied" from another question (answered by me as well),with a little addition this time,if u want to see the original answer, then it's the third link at the source.
Hope I've helped.

what is the benefits of rooting your phone?
Q. im new to the 'android scene' and just wanted to know if its worth rooting my htc wildfire? the main reason i want to root my phone is to use the bloat freezer app to stop the market from updating

thanks

A. Yes, to keep all your apps from bloating your phone, to get the Android updates faster rather that waiting for a release, to really customize your phone or to run a different OS.
